Benko B-8130 Seat Wood Back Mat

Benko B-8130 is a bent beechwood chair that combines traditional craftsmanship with a modern approach to form. The design was inspired by classic 19th-century bentwood furniture – lightweight, elegant, and functional.

The B-8130 version has been enhanced with armrests. The smoothly curved lines of the frame and armrests create a harmonious whole with an elegant character. The combination of a flat wooden seat with a natural mat backrest gives the model a timeless appeal. The woven pattern introduces a handcrafted accent, emphasizing the artistry of its execution.
The Benko B-8130 fits perfectly in dining rooms, cafes, and hotel interiors, where both aesthetics and comfort are important.

The author of the design is Tomek Rygalik / Studio Rygalik. Known for skillfully combining simplicity and functionality, the designer gave the furniture exceptional lightness and clarity of form. Benko B-8130 demonstrates how to subtly combine tradition with modern design.

Designer: Tomek Rygalik

He is a designer, lecturer, curator, and Doctor of Arts. He was born in Łódź in 1976 and studied architecture at the Łódź University of Technology. In 1999, he graduated from the industrial design department at Pratt Institute in New York. After graduation, he collaborated with many renowned design companies in the United States, serving
clients such as Kodak, Polaroid, MTV, PerkinElmer, Dentsply,
Unilever, and Dupont. After earning a master's degree at the Royal College of
Art in London in 2005, he joined the research and development team at RCA. During the same period, he founded his own design studio, with offices in both London and Łódź. Since 2008, he has been leading a design studio at the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and in 2009, he permanently moved to Warsaw. Since 2012, he has been co-director of Studio Rygalik, which he co-founded with his partner, designer Gosia Rygalik.
His extensive collaborations include projects for renowned brands such as Moroso, Noti, Profim, Ideal Standard, Siemens, Heineken, and Ikea. He has served as creative director for leading Polish furniture brands, including Comforty and Paged. He has undertaken numerous projects for cultural institutions, including the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Grand Theatre – National Opera, the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, BOZAR, Zachęta, the Fryderyk Chopin Museum, the National Museum, and the Polish Cultural Institutes. In 2011, he served as the architect for the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. For Paged, he created many collections, including LOF, BENKO, and K2.
