Benko A-8130 Seat Wood Back Mat

Benko A-8130 is a bentwood chair made from beech wood, combining traditional craftsmanship with a modern approach to form. The design was inspired by classic 19th-century bentwood furniture – light, elegant, and functional.

The Benko A-8130 model stands out with its bent construction and subtle proportions. The combination of a flat, wooden seat with a natural cane backrest gives it a timeless character. The woven pattern introduces a handcrafted accent into the interior, highlighting the artistry of its execution.

The chair fits perfectly into modern interiors, combining a classic form with a contemporary style.

The author of the design is Tomek Rygalik / Studio Rygalik. Known for skillfully combining simplicity and functionality, the designer gave the furniture exceptional lightness and clarity of form. Benko demonstrates how to subtly combine tradition with modern design.

Designer: Tomek Rygalik

He is a designer, lecturer, curator, and doctor of art. Born in Łódź in 1976, he studied architecture at the Lodz University of Technology. In 1999, he graduated from the industrial design department at Pratt Institute in New York. After graduation, he collaborated with many renowned design firms in the United States, serving clients such as Kodak, Polaroid, MTV, PerkinElmer, Dentsply, Unilever, and Dupont. After earning his master's degree from the Royal College of Art in London in 2005, he joined the R&D team at RCA. During the same period, he established his own design studio, with offices in both London and Łódź. Since 2008, he has led a design studio at the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and in 2009, he permanently moved to Warsaw. Since 2012, he has been co-director of Studio Rygalik, which he founded with his partner, designer Gosia Rygalik.
His extensive collaborations include projects for recognized brands such as Moroso, Noti, Profim, Ideal Standard, Siemens, Heineken, and Ikea. He served as creative director for leading Polish furniture brands, including Comforty and Paged. He undertakes numerous projects for cultural institutions, including the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Grand Theatre — National Opera, the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, BOZAR, Zachęta, the Fryderyk Chopin Museum, the National Museum, and the Polish Cultural Institutes. In 2011, he served as the architect for the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU. For Paged, he created many collections, including LOF, BENKO, and K2.
